Why This Matters
Melville currently has no active Tavern Licences — and there may be good reason for that.
Tavern licenses do not require food service, and are often loosely interpreted to allow operation similar to a club. This raises concerns around:
Noise
Late-night activity
Public drinking
Loitering
Lack of enforcement
📍 This property is located less than 100m from residential homes, which further escalates concern due to the impact on quality of life and lack of enforcement mechanisms.
